Biking and Cycling in Kitzbühel
Kitzbühel ranks among the most attractive venues for cycling races. The most challenging mountain stage of the Austria Cycling Tour together with the Krone Kitzhorn Challenge and the international Kitzbüheler Horn Mountain Biking event have made the Kitzbüheler Horn mountain one of the most challenging cycling and biking venues of the Austrian republic since the 70s. With up to 22.3 per cent gradient, the Horn mountain is home to Austria's steepest cycling trail and one of the most leg-burning ascents in professional cycling.
The Triathlon World Championship Series “Dextro Energy Triathlon”, hosted by Kitzbühel since 2009, has been an additional boost to this cycling and biking development. 800 kilometres of cycling and mountain biking trails will guarantee great outdoor action also for hobby bikers, offering a variety of bike paths and roads alongside rivers, through forests, alpine pastures and, of course, uphill. Spring 2010 brought new challenges: a cycling folder was developed in cooperation with local biking and cycling experts to present the 14 most attractive GPS cycling trails in and around Kitzbühel.
